Subject Info

The Speckled Wood Butterfly occurs throughout the British Isles except the far north, and throughout most of Europe. It is common and widespread, and is the most likely butterfly to be seen in deciduous woodlands from spring to autumn. Larva feeds on various grasses.

Photographed with a hand-held Nikkormat Ftn camera with 50mm Nikkor lens and extension tube, twin manual flash on home-made bracket, at 1/125th sec and f16, on Kodachrome 25 film processed normally. No filters used.
